The Roaches and Hen Cloud

I had arranged to meet up with my school friends Jenny, Kirsten and Stephanie on Saturday. Just a day visit so we settled on Leek as this suited Kirsten who wanted to leave their car with her son and partner.

She is more local so picked a pub to meet at - The Lazy Trout near Tittesworth Water. Then a walk around the craggy rock formations known as The Roaches and Hen Cloud.

It was grey and hazy when we set off but it soon burned off and turned into a hot and sunny afternoon.  We had a great time chatting and clambering over rocks taking photos. Me for the blog of course with my camera phone and Steph with her Canon DSLR.

She has done a course and is very keen at the moment. It always used to be me with the big camera but I enjoyed the rocky scrambling more which is much easier without a socking great camera weighing you down!

This is just for contrast to show how gloomy it was to start.

Kirsten has had a mole removed from her ear so she is now very covered up and sun blocked. I should take heed but, apart from sunscreen, can't bear being covered up.

Get me being all energetic! We couldn't work out whether the path went all the way through the crags and, as Kirsten has a bad back, didn't want her to have to climb up and then have to slither down again so I just popped up to recce our route!

Stunning views. You just wanted to climb higher and higher. I was like a kid....although trying to remind myself that what goes up must come down, preferably in one piece.

Steph looking slender as a reed.

We started over there and then walked over to the larger, rockier Hen Cloud.

A farming football fan on the drive home!!

What absolutely stunning pics - looks like a wonderful place (and definitely deserves a better name than ‘The Roaches’! Ugh) You look very beautiful too, all glowing - and that blue is a lovely colour on you.

That looks very energetic indeed! And how lovely to go there with your school friends. Well done for the dieting - doing well!
