Good morning folks! Good news from Derbyshire. 2.2lbs off last week taking me to 16.0.6 and a total drop of 25lbs. Ooooh, I'm so close to the 15s I can touch 'em... And not far off that magic 2 stone off mark. I feel reinvigorated by the numbers.
I had to update my Fitbit target weight for the first time since Rich gave it to me for my birthday in November 2016! I weighed 16.12 then and set a modest target of 16.0. I then dropped steadily down to 16.5 before bouncing up (and up) to the high 17s and then pinging up and down for a year or so.
16.0 then is officially fresh fat and lower than I've been for several years (since the misguided foray back to Lighter Life in fact).
I'm heartened by the steadiness of the drops and the fact that I seem to be making permanent, lifestyle changes while still living my life and having fun. I feel that I'm going to get "there", preferably in time to wear a gorgeous wedding dress but, if not by next June, then later. I have the rest of my life.
The wedding dress thing is strange. I know that I would be happy wearing a pretty frock at my present weight. I think I would look lovely and happy right now so any further drops will only enhance that happiness. BUT, despite that, I'm finding the target of a slender wedding dress to be a powerful motivator. Whatever works eh?!

Hanging in there
I've made an effort to get back to basics this week. I've tried to make my breakfasts in particular healthy and bread free. I have gone back to yoghurt, fruit with a sprinkle of muesli or smoothies unless I'm golfing when I tend to go for bacon and eggs to fill me up.
I've played golf on Wednesday, Friday and today which has provided plenty of exercise but not much in the way of good scores. Still, there has been good company, especially on Friday afternoon when I played a Sheffield municipal course with Rich and some of his workmates. The round was so slow we ended up playing as a 5 (totally verboten) and had a great laugh.
The scales have moved gently downwards so I'm hopeful of a modest drop. Having said that I'm stuffed right now!! We had a cooked brunch before our round this morning and we've just polished off roast pork with the trimmings. I make it as low cal as possible but there is no way it is anything other than an indulgence. It made a fine end to a lovely Sunday though. We're now enjoying sofa time in front of the US Open!
Yesterday was a busy day. I started the day with chores and shopping and, on impulse, spent a while trying on smaller sized clothes which I had put away in a big vacuum pack under a guest bed. I found all sorts!! I fit into a nice Phase Eight dress which, with some new navy blue or pink shoes, will do nicely for my niece's wedding at the end of July. It fits now but will look even better should I drop 6 or 7 lbs by then.
I also rediscovered a nice golfing waterproof jacket and a couple of light sweaters. Wooo hoo - free stuff!!
The main focus of the day though was heading over to Glossop to pick up Jenny and then heading into Manchester to see Billy Joel at Old Trafford. We parked near Piccadilly station and had a quick supper at Carluccios there. I was pleased with my restraint in picking a salad for my main although picking the arancini starter was not great (but tasty!) and maybe I could have stepped away from the glass of white wine....
We took the tram up to Old Trafford arriving quite late and walking straight in with no queues. Apparently people arriving much earlier had an hour or so queueing so our time was much better spent in Carluccios! The evening stopped going right at that point though when we found our seats to discover that we had a great view of the side of the stage and couldn't even see the big screen! We had paid £68 each for our seats and there had been no mention of a restricted view.
A load of people around us complained and dozens, hundreds even were relocated to a restricted view section behind a lighting column at the very back of the stadium. We didn't bother but shifted to our left as people moved which improved our view marginally. On balance I think it was the right choice as the people who moved didn't get to their new seats for 40 minutes!!
Billy Joel is not about an amazing stage show anyway but the words and the music. And that was pretty good. Although his voice struggled late on in the concert, he still packed a punch and some of his songs are just amazing. We had a great time and I'll do my best tomorrow to get a refund for the crappy seating!! It was a long evening though, I was tired as I drove home over the Snake Pass at 1am!!
Tomorrow I'm in Rotherham and am going to try to fit in a lunchtime run! Fingers crossed that work permits this. I need to do this as we are going to the pub to watch the England game. I will stick to gin and slimline tonics but there may be a few of then!

The Roaches and Hen Cloud
I had arranged to meet up with my school friends Jenny, Kirsten and Stephanie on Saturday. Just a day visit so we settled on Leek as this suited Kirsten who wanted to leave their car with her son and partner.
She is more local so picked a pub to meet at - The Lazy Trout near Tittesworth Water. Then a walk around the craggy rock formations known as The Roaches and Hen Cloud.
It was grey and hazy when we set off but it soon burned off and turned into a hot and sunny afternoon. We had a great time chatting and clambering over rocks taking photos. Me for the blog of course with my camera phone and Steph with her Canon DSLR.
She has done a course and is very keen at the moment. It always used to be me with the big camera but I enjoyed the rocky scrambling more which is much easier without a socking great camera weighing you down!
This is just for contrast to show how gloomy it was to start.
Kirsten has had a mole removed from her ear so she is now very covered up and sun blocked. I should take heed but, apart from sunscreen, can't bear being covered up.
Get me being all energetic! We couldn't work out whether the path went all the way through the crags and, as Kirsten has a bad back, didn't want her to have to climb up and then have to slither down again so I just popped up to recce our route!
Stunning views. You just wanted to climb higher and higher. I was like a kid....although trying to remind myself that what goes up must come down, preferably in one piece.
Steph looking slender as a reed.
We started over there and then walked over to the larger, rockier Hen Cloud.
A farming football fan on the drive home!!

Week 10 weigh in result
I was enormously relieved to see fresh fat on the scales this morning. 16.2.8 was a new low for me and a healthy 4lbs off last week. Of course that does not tell the whole story as I was down at 16.5.4 some 3 weeks ago before bobbing up and down between 16.3 and 16.8 for the next 3 weeks.
So I have shed 2 and a half lbs in 3 weeks. Hardly an impressive rate of drop BUT a steady fall nonetheless, while enjoying life, so I'll take it!!
In total I have now dropped 23lbs. I'm getting there!
As you might have guessed from the more infrequent blogging of late, I'm still playing golf nearly every day.
The last few days have seen: a league match in Leeds against Headingley GC on Sunday (a very narrow and satisfying victory); a fun 11 hole comp with Rich after work yesterday evening (I beat a small field); and an invitation day at Wortley GC on the outskirts of Sheffield today which Anne and I won nicely. I can't believe I have won 3 days in a row. I'm playing in a ladies' comp tomorrow so maybe I can make it 4 out of 4!!
After tomorrow the golf drops off a bit which I'm looking forward to. I will need to make sure that I replace the golf with other exercise - gym, a run or bootcamp.
I'm also looking forward to getting back to cooking interesting meals. It has been a bit quick and easy or BBQ recently so we will enjoy some tasty dishes.

What a difference a day makes
I hope you had a great weekend in the sunshine. It has been glorious here, and busy!! I took these pics last Thursday, the day after the ones in my last post. It was the same walk at the same time of day. Spot the difference eh?! Where skies were grey and the air was cool, it turned blue and balmy overnight.
It has pretty much stayed that way too. A few cool, hazy mornings but the sun burns through pretty quickly. What an evening!
When I approached this house only the black dog was on the wall. I was scared because it was the third time I had seen her alone. I was so relieved when her shy grey pal came running over for kisses and fuss!! Phew.
This was the difference between Tuesday's walk and Wednesday's - a gin and slimline in the sunshine!
Here's Minty ordering her doggie treats!
I have been pretty good over the weekend. Golf at Huddersfield on Friday - hard work and a team whitewash (booo - but good fun). A hilly walk around The Roaches and Hen Cloud near Leek with my old school pals (MANY photos to follow!). And today, more golf away at Headingley - I won my match and so did the team - yay!!
Food wise, pretty good but a bit too much booze last night with the barbie chilling with Rich's mate Tom who was staying for the evening.
The scales are standing firm at 16.4....fingers crossed for a drop on Tuesday!!
