Not baad, Rodders, not bad

Weight wise, I've been static all week but it is mid-cycle for me and I usually have a bit of water retention round now so not too worried. I have not eaten badly at all. Stuck to my plan every day and no extras. It's been surprisingly easy actually. Maybe because I've made sure that what I eat is nice and filling and not too little so I'm not hungry and I'm enjoying my food.

A usual day goes like this:


Breakfast - luxury muesli with extra blueberries, raspberries or banana and semi-skimmed milk.

Mid-morning snack of fruit or yoghurt

Lunch of either soup (with 3 very small slices of irish brown bread and butter) or sushi or salad

snack of fruit

Supper of meat/fish and salad or veg (no spuds).

Maybe more fruit later and very occasionally a cappucino as a treat.

I drink loads of water, the occasional diet drink if I'm really bored and tea/coffee with semi-skimmed milk throughout the day.


No biscuits, no crisps, no cake or sweets. And, it's been fine. Occasionally if I'm on the road or rushing, I will have a sandwich instead of a meal but not too often as I'm trying to avoid a lot of bread.


I think NOW that I could eat like this forever. I'm losing weight slowly on this regime with plenty of exercise so I suppose the idea is that I keep going with this and, when I eventually get to where I want to be, I just stick at this and, as long I don't gain weight, add in a few extras, like desserts every now and then, more interesting foods like houmous or cheese or the odd glass of wine.


It seems simple but this has not been an easy process for me. Now, though, I can see what I'm going to be doing and that there is a solution out there for me long term. It is quite liberating but I need to guard against complacency. I've still got quite a way to go. I'm 2 1/2 stone (35lbs) from my ideal weight (not my lowest weight ever by the way) but where I want to be so that is at least another 6 months of dieting before I even get to the (tentative) relaxation mode.

...but finding your groove is the best thing. Once you think 'I could do this forever' then you know you've found something good.

I'm loving your blog Lesley. You're doing so well. I love how you just get on with it. You've got a hectic life but you just keep going and suck it up.

Sounds pretty exemplary to me. And all that exercise must pay off - you always seemed to respond well to that, from memory?
