Ships old and new

We spent a happy afternoon at the National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour.

There were 3 vessels to explore. HMS Endeavour, Captain Cook's ship (or a replica of it, obviously).

It was interesting to see the conditions below deck. Impossible to imagine heading off into the absolute unknown in a tiny wooden box.

Next up was a battleship. The Vampire. It was also fascinating.  I became a bit claustrophobic at one point which was disturbing. Think it was the heat and tiny narrow corridor filled with people. I felt better when we reached one of the larger rooms.

After the battleship, a submarine. It was even closer and sweatier than the battleship but I managed to avoid the claustrophobia this time.

And, eventually, fresh air once more!
